Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Scotiabank.
Intern
The interview process was pretty quick and smooth from when the recruiter first reached out to the interview itself. It was mainly behavioral questions, so looking up some common ones would be a good idea for preparation. There weren't a ton of resources to prep with, so networking might be important.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Scotia Bank?
- What unique skills or qualities do you possess that would benefit Scotia Bank?
Investment Banking Intern
the interview was okay, not super tricky, but mostly followed the general IB hiring process. It was a good experience talking to the team. After CV screening, there was one first round, and then a superday with technical rounds and conversations with senior people. Finally, an offer call.
- Tell me about EBITDA.
- Can you explain accounting principles?
- I have some tricky behavioral questions for you.
Intern
It started with a quick 10-minute phone screen, then there was a remote interview that lasted an hour. This remote interview was split into two parts: 30 minutes for behavioral questions and 30 minutes for technical questions, both with the team. After that, I had to complete a take-home assignment, but unfortunately, I didn't get the offer.
- What are your motivations for applying to Scotiabank?
- Could you walk me through your past projects?
- What do you consider your greatest strengths?
