Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Scotiabank.
Customer Experience Associate
The interview process was nice and smooth. I was asked a lot of behavioural questions and was asked how I would define the role. The questions are mostly related to customer service and sales.
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a challenging customer.
Customer Experience Associate
A Scotiabank interview is usually professional but also friendly. They mostly focus on how you handle customer service, work in a team, solve problems, and if you have sales skills. You can expect questions that ask about your past experiences, and also some scenario-based role plays. They will also want to talk about how you align with Scotiabank’s values and their approach to client experience.
- Can you tell me about your experience in customer service?
Customer Experience Associate
First, there was a video call with HR that lasted about 15-20 minutes. They asked questions about Scotia values and the requirements listed in the job posting. The second interview was typically in-person at the branch, with the assistant branch managers and customer experience leads (supervisors). Sometimes it might be over the phone or video if they preferred. Now that I know I got the job, they said the HR person made the decision, but actually the assistant managers/customer supervisors are the ones who decide (whether they want you in the branch as part of the team), then the HR person would vaguely give some excuse.
- Can you tell me about your experience explaining complex concepts simply?
- What's your background in sales?
- What's your background in finance?
