I applied online and then the recruiter Jake reached out. We had a smooth phone call where we discussed the position's details. He told me about the next steps but then I never heard back, even after following up. I wish they had been upfront and transparent about everything.

I reached out to Lori on LinkedIn after checking out Schellman's job postings. She was super friendly and helpful. Unlike other companies where the hiring process can take forever, she was quick to respond and worked around my schedule to set up interviews. First, I had a chat with another Sr. Associate. It was a chance for him to ask me some general questions and for me to learn about the company culture. Then, I interviewed with a manager from my department. This was more of a technical interview where he asked about my past experience and how I'd approach testing specific controls. Next, I met with a principal. This interview was mostly him explaining the company and asking about my background. He also made sure I could ask him anything. Lastly, I had a casual lunch with a principal in my city, which was a great way to get to know the company and my local team better.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The manager inquired about NIST 800-53 related matters, with varying difficulty.
  • He specifically asked about my methods for testing certain controls, like access controls, encryption, and auditing.

I had an incredible interview experience. Brandon from LinkedIn was great to work with and set up my two rounds of interviews and the offer. Everything was over Zoom. First, I talked with two Senior Associates, and then a week later, a Principal and another Senior Associate interviewed me. They seemed genuinely interested in my background and shared a lot about the company, team, and role. I had a really positive vibe from the experience and our chats. They even replied quickly to my thank you note, which I appreciated since I know they're busy. I felt like my application was truly considered. After interviewing, I knew this was the place and team for me. I'm so happy they offered me the job, and I accepted!
