So there were three stages for this role in the Middle East office. First, a chat with the hiring manager about fit. Then, a panel interview covering how we'd work with engineering and our core values. Finally, a take-home task that needed to be submitted before the last talk. Scheduling was a breeze, super fast responses within 48 hours. But, the panel hadn't really looked at my take-home and didn't seem to know the assignment details. They mixed up big product strategy with small feature ideas, which made talking about the bigger picture tough. They knew basic ML but not much about new GenAI stuff, so discussing modern or different tech choices was hard. They also seemed to have one solution in mind from the start, which made it tricky to explore other options. Oh, and they shot down an idea as new when it was in the company's own case studies, which felt like they didn't know their own success stories. Only go for this if you want to get into AI/ML, not if you're already an experienced AI PM.

So the interview process started with a recruiter call, then a hiring manager call, followed by a final round of 6 interviews, each lasting 45 minutes. The recruiter was super helpful and explained the whole process really well, taking as much time as needed. Each interview tested something different – like design thinking, analytical skills, product sense, ML knowledge, and cultural fit. It was intense, but the team was awesome and really respectful. Most interviews felt more like conversations with brain teasers thrown in, not like a rigid Q&A session.

  • The answers to their questions needed to come from your experience. I would recommend running through a few consulting, product and strategy case archetypes so you are not blindsided by an unknown structure.

I applied via LinkedIn and heard back from the recruiter within a few days. We talked about salary and work-life balance, and then I was set up for R1. The interviewer joined the Zoom call late because he was stuck in traffic, and we did part of the interview with his camera off. He rejoined 10 minutes later, after about 20 minutes of the interview time had already passed. He spent almost the entire interview talking and only asked me questions in the last 3 minutes. I had a hard stop and couldn't go over the time. Even though this was a really bad interview where they didn't learn anything about me, I got rejected for R2.
