Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SBM Management Services.
Senior Operations Manager
The recruiter connected with me on LinkedIn. The interview went fine. It took two weeks to set up a second interview with the SVP of employee/candidate experience. She was a bit late and had to leave on time. She made a comment that was a red flag: "We work hard, but we play hard." She then suggested I meet with the hiring manager. The recruiter took over a month to get back to me, saying he would schedule the interview. I never heard back, which was fine because I didn't want to work for a company that made such a terrible first impression. The job probably isn't real; I bet this company posts jobs to make it look like they're growing.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your background?
Operations Manager
The recruiter has been great at keeping me informed, but I was surprised when they offered me a panel interview with executives as my only official interview besides the initial phone screen, calling it a "one and done" process. I couldn't make the interview because it was scheduled for the very next day, but I would have been interested to see how it would have gone. Getting hired after just two rounds if you're qualified sounds fantastic! I was just taken aback because my previous interview processes typically last 4-6 weeks.
- What's motivating your job search?
- Can you tell me about your operational background?
- Could you explain SBM?
Operations Manager
Applied through school and got a 45-min phone interview with the recruiter. Then the recruiter set me up with a hiring manager, but they weren't ready to hire. The recruiter then tried to arrange an interview with another hiring manager at a different location, but that position was filled before I could interview. Three months later, the recruiter set me up with a hiring manager for a 1:1 interview. It went well, and the manager said I was exactly what they were looking for, but I didn't get an offer. It would have been better if they were more organized and didn't have me going back and forth between interviews.
- If you could start any business, what would it be?
