Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SBB CFF FFS.
Manager
The interview is online with a pre-recorded video. Very impersonal. Then, HR asks generic, uninteresting questions. Recruiters are more interested in how long the candidate is willing to stay in the position rather than the quality of their CV.
- Why are you the ideal candidate for this job?
Data Manager
After submitting my online application, I received a friendly email about 2 weeks later stating they needed more time to review applications, which was a positive sign. A total of 4 weeks after applying, and following up by phone, I got the invitation for an interview. Due to vacations, the interview itself was scheduled another 4 weeks later. The appointment confirmation included detailed directions and information on who else would be present besides the HR person. The interview atmosphere was friendly. Here's how it went: Introductions of the people involved, presentation of the company (I was given a folder with information and a company presentation to take home), a more detailed presentation of the job responsibilities using a flip chart, questions, and discussion of the next steps (feedback call).
- Why are you interested in this job and our company?
Manager
It was a very precise and clear one-hour interview. They presented the company and the position to me, as well as the context for the hiring. Then, I introduced myself and explained my background and previous experiences related to the position.
- Have you ever worked for a state-owned enterprise before?
