Technical Coding

The interview process was good. They asked easy questions, not too difficult. There were about 2 to 3 rounds. First, there was an online assignment where they asked aptitude and logical reasoning questions, along with 2 coding questions. After clearing that, I was called for the interview. The first technical round covered Java, SQL, and the software development cycle.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Tell me about the JVM in Java.
  • Can you answer some basic questions from SQL, like some queries and normalization?
  • What is normalization in SQL?

Do your research before the interview. Go to their website and submit your application which will then allow you to chose a time slot for your interview. Your interview will be about 30 minutes. A person will ask you about your experience and then move on to a demonstration class that you need to prepare. They will have told you to download their platform. On there you will be able to access the class you have to teach. You really really need to go on YouTube and watch one of the girls talk you through the class you are going to demonstrate teaching!

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • You need to do a demo class.
  • You should YouTube 'SayABC Interview' for help.
  • I recommend Rachael McKeeth's page for lots of information and a run down of what you need to know for the interview.

I had an initial interview process with SayABC. My first interview was positive and I was asked to book in for a demonstration. I proceeded to book in. I was contacted by one of the main Tutors with SayABC who gave me advice on how to complete the class. I had downloaded the platform which was very user friendly. I taught my class for my assessment and I had not heard back from SayABC for 2 days until I emailed them. They told me I had "not passed straightforward" and I would need to repeat the teaching assessment again. I emailed them back explaining one kid refused to participate in class her mother was physically placing her on the chair and she was running off and I spent several minutes calling out to her to come to class (I should not have had to do this!) I also had one absent student and one late student to the class. I emailed my concerns to SayABC and I got no reply. I tried to rebook my assessment in and I was unable to book it. Again I emailed SayABC to explain I could not rebook and no reply. I emailed SayABC again about the lack of follow up and I received no reply. I completed all the online modules which were required from them as well, it took several hours to complete. I found it a very disappointing experience as I had spent a lot of time and effort in trying to do well in the interview process. I have now since found an excellent online company who are looking after me well.

The interview process was pretty quick and simple. First, there's a mock class that you need to pass with the recruiter. After that, you move on to the evaluation stage, which involves a real trial class and a quiz before it. I haven't done the evaluation yet, but I think I'll do fine. People say it's a good company, but the booking rates might not be as high as you'd want.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you tell me about your educational background?
  • Could you share your teaching experience?
  • Please provide a demo lesson.
