First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Savvas Learning Company.
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process involved 2 rounds of technical interviews. After that, there was a round with the Director and VP. I had to show I could code by solving a problem, discuss system design, and demonstrate I understood cloud concepts, databases, and data warehouses.

Principal Software Engineer
The recruiting HR was great with communication and organizing the interviews. It was 5 interview rounds with a mix of Principals and Directors, each lasting an hour. The process was a bit on the slower side, took almost 10 weeks for 5 rounds. There was almost a month wait before receiving the first call from recruiter.

- Questions about integrating a new system
- Questions focused on technical details
Software Developer
I had an interview back in January for a role starting in June. It was mostly behavioral with one technical question at the end, which I didn't do well on and was told I wouldn't be proceeding. Unexpectedly in March, I got an email for someone else's second-round interview. I pointed out the mistake and the recruiter apologized, saying they had more spots and changed their mind about me. Excited, I prepared for a second-round technical group interview. I met with two developers from different teams. Both I and another candidate had to present a coding project we'd done and then solve a database management project together. I did really well, even guiding the other candidate on database stuff. We both got positive feedback. By June, I'd heard nothing, not even a rejection. I contacted the recruiter but was ghosted. The whole process took over 6 months and felt like a waste of time. The recruiter's initial email mistake was unprofessional. I suspect they just wanted to interview the other guy again and used me as a decoy to see how he worked in a group.
- Can you explain binary tree concepts?
- Could you present a coding project you've completed?
- How would you go about setting up and managing a database based on a given scenario?
