Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Savills.
Analyst
Right from the start of the CV discussion, they mentioned they'd had bad experiences with people who studied America before, like me, but wouldn't elaborate. Regarding my second Master's, they just said, 'I don't know that university' – keep in mind it's a top 10 business university in Europe! After several questions about my motivation, experience, and aspirations, they told me they didn't believe what I was saying ('We don't buy that!'). This was the first time I've ever been called a liar in an interview! The whole interview was full of accusations, challenges, and a very hostile atmosphere. Also, Savills wasn't prepared for the meeting, as they apparently hadn't even opened my CV.

Summer Analyst
I had a phone screen to talk about my interest in real estate and my past internship experience. It was pretty easy to pass and get an in-person interview. I met with two of the youngest analysts at the office. I was actually rejected at first, but then they offered me the position after someone else turned down their offer.
- Are you comfortable making phone calls?
Analyst
It started with a friendly welcome and introduction of the two interviewers. Then I introduced myself and we had a Q&A. Unfortunately, some questions seemed to indicate that my application wasn't really reviewed beforehand, which made me feel a bit strange. Also, the job description was quite different from what was stated in the job ad. After that, I had to complete a task and present my results, which led to an intensive technical discussion. The whole conversation lasted almost 3 hours. I was told I'd get an answer within two weeks, but the rejection actually came after about 4 weeks.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
