First, I had a phone interview with someone from HR who was a Talent Acquisition Manager. Then, I had a second interview with the supervisor, a team member, and the department director. The last interview was to ask more in-depth questions about my specific job experience and background.

The hiring manager was consistently late for calls and took days to respond via email. The last interview stage involved a 30-minute presentation. Despite promising to be available for questions, the hiring manager missed our scheduled meetings three times. The offered salary was significantly lower than the average, and they stated it was non-negotiable, suggesting that the 'benefits' of working at SCAD would be a sufficient trade-off. The overall process felt disorganized, and the organizational culture seemed questionable.

I spoke with a recruiter who was really nice, and then had over 5 more interviews with other people over 2 months. They really wanted to make sure I’d be a good fit for SCAD, not just based on my experience. The whole interview process felt really thorough, and my references got a lot of questions too. I kind of wish they’d been more upfront about what the process would look like and how long it would take when I first talked to the recruiter.

The interview process had 3 stages. The first was a phone interview with the Hiring Recruiter. The second was a face-to-face Zoom interview with the previous Hiring Recruiter, Director of Admission, and the Executive Director of Admissions. The candidate only made it to the second round. If you are a SCAD alum, it seems like they will quickly review your application. An email for the first round of interviews was sent the same day the application was submitted. The phone interview was only 10 minutes, and the recruiter was friendly and shared a lot of information. Within two days, an invitation for the second round was received, and that interview was somewhat challenging. Since the candidate had worked in SCAD admissions as a student, some questions felt repetitive from a previous interview and were very personal, based on their own experiences and background. Almost a week after the second interview, an email was received stating they did not make the final round. The candidate felt they needed to emphasize how "life-changing" and "amazing" SCAD was. While SCAD helped in their career journey and they are grateful for their time there, there are also cons and personal experiences that, if they could be honest about in a non-professional setting, they would warn students and families about the true reality of attending. Because they understood what parents were looking for and the questions they had from a student's perspective about attending SCAD, their answers focused on how the faculty and students make the school what it is, not just the flashy events and experiences. Since not everyone can attend or experience things like studying abroad or attending SCAD Day before getting in, they didn't want to sell something unrealistic to a young student and their parents. This approach might not have been what they were looking for in the role.
