First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sarepta Therapeutics.
Scientist
The hiring process started with a recruiter call, then a 1-on-1 technical interview with the Hiring Manager, who was a Principal Scientist. The HM seemed uninterested and didn't ask any technical questions, which felt like a waste of time. After six weeks of no response, I was invited for another interview with four team members. These people were friendly, but the interview felt like a formality, with no genuine interest in my skills or background. The company culture appears very relaxed and unprofessional. The HR representative was professional, which was the only positive aspect.
- Can you elaborate on one of your publications?
Senior Scientist
It was a typical industry interview. I had phone/virtual meetings with HR and the Hiring Manager. Then there was a full day interview. It started with a 30-minute presentation of my research, followed by about five or six individual 30-minute interviews. Honestly, it felt pretty unprofessional compared to other places I've interviewed. At the end, they mentioned they still needed to interview someone with a 'personal relationship with a Sarepta employee.' They also didn't respond to calls or emails before the interview to give me guidance on what to present. The only notification I got about the position was through Workday, stating my job status was no longer under consideration.
- What relevant skills do you possess for this role?
- Describe your mentoring approach.
Scientist
The hiring manager will reach out to set up a 30-minute pre-interview. After that, you'll meet five people from HR and your potential teammate and director. If they like you, the last interview will be a 1-hour presentation and then a 30-minute chat with 8 colleagues. It was a great time talking to all those nice and smart people at Sarepta.
- Could you tell me about your skills and background?
- What motivates your transition from academia to industry?
