Had one phone interview where they asked basic coding questions like reversing a string, balancing a string, and splitting a string. Then I had 5 Skype interviews, covering SQL, JavaScript, front end, and testing. Also got behavioral questions and 6 coding questions, including fizzbuzz, palindrome, reverse a string, and finding the largest element in an array. I'm not sure why I was rejected since I answered all coding questions correctly and even provided multiple solutions.

So there was like a first screening with HR/recruitment coordinator, then 3 actual rounds. Round 1 was with the coordinator, Round 2 with the QA Manager, and Round 3 with a fellow Senior S/w Dev Engg in Test. The first two rounds went super well. HR asked stuff about my confidence and readiness for a competitive setting, and we also talked a lot about the company and how they hire. The QA Manager's interview focused on test processes, like asking tricky questions on how I'd test a web service. The last round with the Senior Software Dev Engg in Test, though, that's where it went wrong. We had a good Q&A session and OO went smoothly, but then they asked me to develop an API for the longest path in a binary tree. I struggled a bit to even understand the question from the drawing, and by the time I got it, I guess the manager thought I wasn't a strong Java dev. It was okay overall though.

  • What are your thoughts on OO concepts?
  • Can you explain core Java?
  • Binary tree questions, though I'm not sure how relevant they were, expected Selenium instead.

Behavioral Technical

Had a phone interview with the recruiter where they mentioned a salary way lower than what Glassdoor shows for this role. Then, I interviewed with the Hiring Manager, who asked a good amount about my testing experience. Turns out, it was a functional testing role, which was disappointing. After that, I had back-to-back interviews with three test engineers/team leads, each lasting about 20-30 minutes, focusing more on functional testing.
