Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SAP Concur.
Market Development Representative
The interview process was long and grueling, but it does a good job of weeding out candidates. It took a few weeks to complete, which was tough while I was still working at my previous job. I was referred by an internal contact, so my resume was submitted to the corporate recruiter, who contacted me. First, the recruiter emailed me to set up a 15-minute introductory call. Then, a 20-minute interview was scheduled with the hiring manager. If that went well, a 1.5-hour in-person interview followed, involving three 30-minute sessions with managers, an MDR, and the team director. Next, a 30-minute phone call was set up with the VP of Marketing in Seattle. The penultimate step was to come in and shadow an MDR to ensure I understood the role. Finally, they extended a job offer.
- What positive and negative things would your previous employers say about you?
Market Development Representative
Applied via a recruitment agency for a full-time position. The interview process included a phone chat with the hiring manager, followed by an in-person meeting with them. Then, there was another face-to-face with the Marketing Director and Sales Manager. After that, they either made an offer on the spot or you'd have to wait to hear back. If everything went well, they'd ask for a mandatory background check, then issue contracts, and finally, the background check needed to clear.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- Why are you interested in this role?
Market Development Representative
The whole thing took about 4 weeks, partly because there was a conference happening. It started with a phone chat with the regional manager, which was pretty laid-back and straightforward. After that, I went in person for another interview, meeting with four different people, some managers and some who were actually doing the job I was applying for. The last part was a final phone call with the director, and man, that was super tough, so make sure you're ready for it!
- Tell me about how you handled past clients and different scenarios.
- Why should I not hire you?
- What is something your manager won't miss about you?
