Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SAP Concur.
Sales Representative
I was contacted by Concur in early August and immediately scheduled an initial screening. They also sent a personality test, which I completed before my phone interview with the hiring manager. Following that, I had another phone screen with a manager from a different district. About two weeks later, the recruiter contacted me to arrange an in-person interview with the hiring manager and her boss. The communication throughout was good. During the in-person meeting, the hiring manager's boss was unavailable due to traffic, so we rescheduled a 30/60/90 day review for two days later. Unfortunately, her boss couldn't make that one either. While I was there in person, and during my presentation, I was told I was the top candidate and they weren't planning to interview anyone else. They also asked about my availability for their week-long kickoff event, mentioning it wasn't a deal-breaker if I couldn't attend. A few days later, I finally met in person with her boss. Given the previous conversations, I expected an offer soon after. Instead, I received a call stating I didn't have enough experience and they would continue searching. This felt like a complete blindsided, especially after the hiring manager's positive feedback just a week before.
- Were there any unexpected interview questions?
Sales Representative
The interview process for the Concur Breeze Sales rep kicked off with a phone chat with the recruiter. After that, I had to complete a 100-question personality test. About a week after the initial call, I had another phone chat, this time with the sales team manager I was applying to join. They then set me up for a half-day interview the following week. The half-day interview included a one-on-one with the manager, a 15-minute product demo (they ask you to play around with the free trial beforehand), a panel interview with the team, and a final chat with the recruiter. After the half-day, I was scheduled for a final phone interview with the VP of sales.
- What is the value proposition for the Concur Breeze product, in your opinion?
Sales Representative
This was the worst interview experience. The communication from management and recruiting was terrible. An arrogant manager interviewed me. The next day, the VP left me waiting and no-showed for our scheduled interview. I waited over half an hour trying to call the VP, who wasn't answering. Finally, an hour after the interview was supposed to start, the recruiter called and said they weren't moving forward.
- Can you tell me how you know the person who referred you?
