Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SAP Concur.
Consultant
The interview process included an introductory or telephonic round, followed by one or two technical rounds depending on the role. There was also a managerial round and, for some roles, a cross-lob round. The final stage involved an HR or talent discovery team, where behavioral and resume-based technical questions were asked.
- Could you share some behavioral experiences?
- Can you discuss technical aspects from your resume?
Technical Consultant
I got an email from a Concur recruiter to set up a first chat. We picked a time, but she rang me 20 minutes after we were supposed to talk. She did say sorry and that she was swamped, but I feel like she should've called or emailed to say she'd be late.
- Regarding the initial requirement of up to 80% travel for this position, are you open to traveling that frequently?
Technical Consultant
The recruiter was responsive and wanted to move things along. There were 3 interviews in total. The last one was with the hiring manager and their boss. I got offered the job, but I turned it down because it was in a satellite office, making me feel like opportunities were limited. Also, their first offer was much lower than what I'd said I expected at the start and below market value. I didn't even try to counter and just declined. The recruiter reached out to ask why I declined. Then, they offered to set up a meeting to tell me more about other roles at Concur. It was a nice gesture. After the meeting, I told the recruiter I'd reconsider if Concur could increase their offer by 30% to meet market value. The recruiter didn't counter my ask, which is why I didn't take the job. It seems like a great company otherwise. I'll apply for other roles, hoping they'll be closer to market rate.
- Where did you find out about this job opening?
