I applied online and sent in my resume and CV. After about two weeks, HR called to set up a phone interview and an in-person one. The phone interview with HR was about half an hour. Then, I had an hour-long interview with the clinical nurse managers from the department.

First, you search online on Sanford's website, make a profile, and apply. You'll get an email saying thanks for applying and they'll reach out if they consider you. If not, you might get an email 1-6 months later (this happened to me). Usually, they call you for an interview more than 2 weeks after you apply. They start with a phone interview with HR. If you pass that, they set up an interview with the department, and some departments even have a "peer interview."

I spoke with HR and then met the head nurse. I made sure to dress well and bring my resume. They asked the typical questions, but were also interested in my personal life, asking about my hobbies and my marital status. They seemed supportive of family issues which I appreciated, though it's a hospital, so I guess that's expected.

- I had to sign an NDA. My friend who works there told me about hiring changes and people leaving or moving positions. It's hard to tell if they pay their staff enough, which is often why nurses and doctors don't stay long.
