Senior HR Generalist
The new HR team provided a fantastic interview experience with great talent acquisition and clear communication. It seemed like a great role, and I'm disappointed I wasn't selected. I would have loved to contribute to their team's growth.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with employee relations issues and what actions you took.
Talent Acquisition
I spoke with two people about my background and accomplishments. We looked at projections and schedules for upcoming hires. Then, I chatted with some people from other teams about how things are going in the department and company overall.
- Can you discuss your career history and aspirations?
- What are your key achievements?
- What are your thoughts on future hiring forecasts and timelines?
Research Assistant
It was a really quick process. First, I had a phone chat with the PI about my background and why I wanted to work there. It felt more like a chat than a formal interview, which was nice and chill. Then I had an in-person meeting later that week. It was pretty similar, and I met with everyone on the team one by one. They showed me what they're working on. Overall, it was a relaxed and comfortable interview, even though I didn't get the job.
- What are your career aspirations?
- Can you describe your research experience?
- How familiar are you with our lab's research?
Postdoctoral Fellow
First, I had a quick 20-minute chat with the professor to see if my research interests and personality were a good match. Then, about a week later, I was invited back for a more formal interview. This involved a 1-hour seminar where I gave a presentation, followed by a Q&A session that continued as I presented and after. After the presentation, the rest of the attendees left, and the professor and I spoke for another 20 minutes.
- Were there any questions about the controls used?
- Did the interview involve data interpretation queries?
- Were there any discussions about future research directions?
