Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Samsung R&D Institute India - Bangalore.
TPM Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward, focusing on our experience, resume, and cultural fit. Cultural fit seemed to be the main emphasis. In my case, a senior TPM conducted the interview with a unique approach I haven't seen elsewhere, not even at top institutions. It felt like a different format than usual.
- Given that you're from a highly sophisticated company with established processes, how would you justify your cultural fit with our organization, which has fewer established procedures?
Senior Manager
The interview process had multiple rounds. I met with HR leaders, which was disappointing because they seemed to undervalue my experience to fit their budget. I had several calls with people from the same and different departments. They mentioned salary expectations early on, and if they weren't in their range, the process should have ended there. It was frustrating to spend over 10-12 hours only to be offered a position below the job and salary grade. It felt like they were trying to lowball me, hoping I'd accept. Very unprofessional.
- Questions about functional areas.
Technical Manager
The interview focused on my area of expertise and included a few general technical questions. It wasn't particularly challenging for me, but other candidates faced questions about languages, data structures, and algorithms. The company values coding skills, so it's best to be well-prepared.
- Were there questions more on the domain in which you had worked?
- Were there very few general technical questions?
- Were there not much of challenging questions?
