Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Samsung R&D Institute India - Bangalore.
Data Scientist
Samsung came to my college for hiring back in October 2018. About 100 people showed up for the first round. They had two job profiles open: developer and researcher. It was a 3-hour test with one coding question. The question was a simple graph problem.
- Tell me all about your MTech Project.
Data Scientist
I had two technical rounds. The first was with knowledgeable and friendly interviewers. They asked a coding question about data structures, which wasn't really data science related, but I solved it. The second round was with inexperienced interviewers who didn't even turn on their cameras. They asked some strange counter-questions and seemed defensive when I gave correct answers. They finished with another coding question that they didn't explain well, but I still coded it. They said HR would follow up, but after two weeks of no response and then being told they'd let me know, HR eventually informed me I was rejected. It felt like a waste of time dealing with those interviewers.
- A question about combinations for climbing stairs.
- What are anagrams?
- A question on data structures for coding.
Data Scientist
The interview process was good. The interviewers were kind and supportive. The questions were a mix of basic and advanced levels. Three rounds including coding, technical and managerial. HR round was not there initially but only after offer acceptance.
- Questions related to machine learning and linear algebra.
- Some deep learning and probability questions as well.
