First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Samsung Electronics America.
Machine Learning Engineer
Had a first round screen. It was half an hour for solving a coding problem. Solved it completely with test cases passing. Missed on the time complexity. It wasn't trivial to quantify. Then half an hour for deep dive on previous project. Got an email for not moving forward after 3 weeks.
- Can you implement DFS on a NxN 2D matrix containing letters to identify if a word exists?
Machine Learning Engineer
I applied through my college portal and got a phone screening. After that, a research scientist reached out for a phone interview. They were looking for someone with a strong background or current research in deep learning, especially in its computer vision applications.
- What's your prior experience in Machine Learning?
- Could you answer a few questions about probability and statistics?
Machine Learning Engineer
Applied online and then had a chat with the recruiter, followed by a technical person. The interview itself was pretty straightforward, but I hadn't really prepped since the recruiter gave me zero info. It was all very standard ML stuff, though my memory was a bit fuzzy. The interviewer had a list and ticked off questions as I answered. They were quite rude, and if I glanced at my notebook for a second, they'd jump in with 'don't cheat!' They really wanted me staring at the screen the whole time!
- Can you discuss standard introductory questions concerning various ML neural architectures and methods?
- Can you explain Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)?
- Can you explain Transformer architecture?
