First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SambaNova.
Hardware Engineer
It started with a phone call where they asked me some basic questions on RTL design and digital circuits. Then, I had a virtual on-site interview. This included technical and behavioral questions, and we also discussed some of the projects I've worked on.
- Could you answer some basic questions on RTL design?
- Could you answer some basic questions on digital circuits?
- Can we talk about the projects you have worked on from a technical standpoint?
Hardware Engineer
First, the interviewer spent about 20 minutes asking me about my master's projects and previous job experience. Then, for the next 40 minutes, they asked me technical questions covering basic digital logic, CDC, RDC, latches, synthesis, multi-cycle paths, I/O delays, power saving, clock gating, and gray code counters.
- Can you describe your current job experience?
- Tell me about your past projects.
Hardware Engineer
I applied online. A recruiter got in touch to set up a Google Meet call with the hiring manager. The interviewer apparently hadn't looked at my resume. They brushed aside my internship experience and said I started in engineering 'late' (in high school), maybe because I wasn't coding from birth. The interview wrapped up half an hour early, skipping the coding question, because they were looking for someone with more experience. Which would have been okay, but they were pretty rude about it, making it sound like I'd be lucky if they even considered me further and that I lack technical depth. I don't think that's a fair assessment, especially since they didn't ask any technical questions for me to show what I know. All in all, I left feeling like I wouldn't want to work there, and it probably wouldn't be an inclusive or good work environment.
- Can you describe a project from your resume?
