It started with a recruiter call, which went well. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager. After that, a tech assessment was given. There were some questions about the exercise, but the hiring manager punted them to another developer who didn't provide answers. I completed and submitted the exercise without any clarification. It took them 3 weeks to respond, and they didn't give any feedback on the tech assessment, which I spent a full working day on. I feel the process could have been more respectful of my time and effort.

I saw the job on Hacker News and reached out. Although I was initially interested in data science, they were really open to my interests and ended up interviewing me for a SWE role on the data analytics team. The first step was a brief call with the hiring manager and head of engineering, where they asked me a data science question and a regular SWE question. Next, I had an on-site interview. They asked me to send over some code I was particularly proud of beforehand so we could discuss it. During the on-site, I met with the VP of engineering, my potential boss, the hiring manager, another engineering manager, and a software engineer. The initial interviews, as well as the last one, included a mix of data science and software engineering questions. A few days later, they called with an offer, which I gladly accepted. I was really pleased with the whole experience and everyone I interacted with!
