Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Salsify.
Customer Success Manager
I had an interview that really soured my day. The interviewer was on speakerphone, not friendly, and sounded quite arrogant, unlike her LinkedIn persona. She dominated the conversation, repeating information and preventing me from speaking. I've never experienced such rude HR. When I mentioned I couldn't hear her well, she threatened to hang up and call back, which she did, but the problem persisted. She claimed her ear was against the phone, but I suspect she could have used Zoom, though she said she does too many interviews for that. It felt like dealing with a high school bully. I only got about two minutes to discuss my experience, and she commented that other candidates were more concise. My advice is to be nice and humble, and if you want to hear more from a candidate, limit your own monologues. She made me feel terrible.

Customer Success Manager
Salsify reached out to me pretty quickly after my application, I had a phone screening with their internal recruiter and after that, the hiring manager and I spoke for about an hour. He was extremely friendly and it felt more like a conversation than an interview. A day or two later they asked me to come to the office where I met with 5 members of the team. I gave a presentation and also walked them through their application.
- In previous roles, how were you empowered?
Customer Success Manager
The interview process started off pretty unprofessionally. I only went through the initial screening stage, but even the first call was a mess. The recruiter set up the call, but then never actually called me. About 15 minutes after the scheduled time, I emailed to check if it was still on and also tried calling, but it went straight to voicemail. I didn't hear back from the recruiter at all. Later that evening, I decided to try rescheduling using the Calendly link they provided. I set up another call for the next day and again asked for confirmation. Still no word, but the recruiter did call a little after the new scheduled time. It was a standard screening call, and the recruiter mentioned it seemed like a good fit and they'd follow up with more details. I sent a follow-up email thanking them and saying I'd wait for their next steps. No follow-up ever came, so a few days later I reached out again to see if anything had changed. I never got a response, not even an automated one saying they were considering other candidates. Completely ghosting and not showing up for scheduled calls is really not a good look.
- Could you tell me about your background?
- What are your expectations regarding salary?
