Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SalonCentric.
Sales Consultant
I went through 3 phone interviews: one with the District Sales Manager, one with the HR Director, and one with the Regional Sales Manager. Then I had a one-on-one in-person interview at a hotel lobby with the District Sales Manager. The interviews with HR and the Regional Sales Manager were pretty business-like and professional, just like I figured they'd be.
- Could you tell me about a challenging situation you faced and how you managed it?
- If you were given 6 samples of a new hairspray, how would you decide which accounts to sample, and what would be your approach to presenting it?
Sales Consultant
I applied through L'Oreal's website. The HR manager reached out a few weeks later to schedule a phone interview. A few weeks after that, the HR manager contacted me again to set up an in-person interview with the RVP. It seemed to go well, and at the end, they said I'd move to the next step. The next day, I got an email with an assessment. The start of the assessment had easy questions about scenarios and personality. The last three parts involved basic algebra, word problems, and analogies.
- Can you outline your strategy for increasing sales in the territory you'd be assigned?
- How comfortable are you with interacting with others?
- Would you describe yourself as shy?
Sales Consultant
I sent in my application online, and about a month later, they reached out for an interview. It was a pretty relaxed conversation and overall a good experience. The Manager mentioned it was a great way to start, and that there was definitely potential for advancement, especially since I expressed my interest in moving into outside sales, though that never panned out.
- Can you tell me about your previous job experiences?
- What kind of work schedule are you seeking?
