Sales Associate
I sent in my application online and got a call a few days later for an interview. It was a pretty straightforward interview. They just asked some basic questions about when I can work and what experience I have that's relevant to the sales associate role.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What are your available working times?
- Describe your experience relevant to this sales position.
Sales Associate
It’s a pretty simple interview process, they just hire anyone 18 and up. It would be good if you knew about hair products so you don’t get confused when talking to customers. Sometimes they might call you back for a second interview, or you might have to do an assessment to get the job. They do check your background but not a drug test.
- Why are you interested in this position?
- What is your knowledge of hair products?
Sales Associate
First you meet with the manager, and a couple hours later you may get a call to schedule a second interview with the district manager. If you're not a people person or friendly, it's best to look elsewhere. Sometimes the manager will ask other employees about your conduct when you entered the store. Being nervous is fine, but coming off as snobby is not. My advice is to dress as if you already work there; it's an easy checkmark. You'll learn a lot about hair and beauty on the job. So far, they've been good at choosing cool co-workers (I've worked at two locations). If you don't have prior hair/beauty experience, focus on customer service on your resume or vice versa. They might ask if you've been in an environment where hard work was necessary (shipment days are a lot of work but manageable) and to describe how you've worked with people/customers. Don't forget volunteer work, as that counts too. All in all, you've done SOMETHING that could contribute to their corporation, so as long as you're friendly and word your resume to align with what they're looking for, you'll be fine.
- Have you worked in a demanding, labor-intensive setting before?
- Can you describe situations where you've had to put in a lot of effort?
- Tell me about your experience interacting with people and customers.
