Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sally Beauty.
Manager
First you speak with the district manager, discussing your background relevant to the manager role. You'll also go over some hypothetical scenarios a manager might face and talk about how you'd address them. They'll lay out the expectations for managers concerning work schedules, and cover salary, benefits, PTO, and so on. If the district manager thinks you're a good fit, you'll then interview with the HR manager for that district.
- What's your approach to managing an employee who is consistently tardy by 5-10 minutes for each shift?
Manager
It was a simple and straightforward early interview screening. The interviewer was friendly but didn't give much feedback during the interview. I was expecting more in-depth questions than what was asked.
- Can you share your past experience and explain how your abilities align with our company's needs?
Assistant Manager
You get a call to schedule an interview. The store manager is the one who interviews you. After that, they do a background check, which takes about a week to get back, and then they'll have you start.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- Describe a situation where you dealt with a challenging customer and how you managed it.
