It was a super weird experience. A recruiter hit me up on Linkedin, and now I'm thinking maybe it was to meet their DEI targets (I'm a woman). So, basically, it was a recruiter chat, then a talk with an EM, and then a case study with an exec. They never asked for my resume, and I didn't even know what specific job I was going for. Just like others here, I got ghosted after the case study.

Behavioral Case Presentation

This is a multi-stage hiring process involving both interviews and exercises designed to assess critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We mentioned upfront that it might take 4-6 weeks to complete, depending on scheduling. The stages include: Recruiter screen, Partner conversation, a qualitative assessment of your interest and reflection (we recommend taking your time with this part as it's valuable regardless of the outcome), a quantitative assessment, a presentation of a recommendation or case study, background and reference checks, and finally, a face-to-face meeting with a Partner. The firm places a strong emphasis on evaluating your capabilities and how well you fit with the company culture. I personally found it a valuable chance to pause and think critically about myself and my goals, which helped me clarify some personal objectives I hadn't realized before.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

The interview process can drag on, contingent on your availability and the firm's employees. Mine took about 10 weeks total from initial contact to final decision. It kicked off with a screening call from an SBI recruiter. This screen, unlike most I've encountered, was quite thorough and business-focused; don't anticipate a standard Q&A. Next, I had a screening call with a partner, which was rather intense and came with some homework. I'd suggest dedicating time and thought to it. It's valuable even if you don't end up joining SBI. Following that was an analytical case study, which took a bit of time but had few, if any, surprises. The case readout was with an Engagement Manager. After the analytical interview, I faced another case study. This one involved an approach from a reading assignment that's useful regardless of the interview outcome. I treated the case study like a client project. The readout was a mock client meeting, and I got immediate feedback (both good and bad), along with a decision on moving forward. Subsequent steps included a background check, drug screening, etc., and then a face-to-face meeting for me and my spouse with a partner and his spouse. It's a pretty comprehensive and lengthy process overall.
