Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sailthru.
Senior Software Engineer
First, a recruiter called to screen me. Then, I had a 1st technical video screen where we went over my technical experience, Sailthru's tech stack, and the team. The 2nd technical video screen involved one algorithm problem (leetcode easy) that needed hashmaps and one Linux command problem (using grep, awk, sort, etc. for text parsing). The virtual onsite had a system design problem about microservices, databases, event-driven communication, distributed caching, etc., where I had to design one of Sailthru's sub-systems.
- Be ready to discuss your technical background and experience.
- Familiarize yourself with Sailthru's technology stack.
- Learn about the team you might be joining.
Software Engineer
It was the standard procedure. First, a recruiter call, then another developer call where I got technical questions and a remote coding test. Then I went in person. The coordinator took a while to find someone to interview me. Eventually, someone showed up who seemed reluctant and asked me to do a coding problem that I think he made up on the spot. He was quite irritable and snide. After him, I talked to another developer, a woman this time, who asked me to code binary search, and she was nicer.
- Can you write the code for the binary search algorithm?
Software Developer
I finished the code challenge and got a confirmation email the next day. The HR asked for my availability, but after I gave them the days, they ghosted me and never replied. It seems like the HR is super unprofessional.
- Can you solve a simple algorithm problem?
