First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SAIC.
Technical Writer
I interviewed for a senior Technical Writer role. First, I had a 1:1 with my manager. A week later, I had a 90-minute group interview with 6 team members. It was a bit weird, they sat in a semi-circle and asked questions back and forth, I had to keep shifting focus. The interview was pretty standard, asking about my experience. About 10 minutes in, I realized the job was much lower level than advertised. They told me later they went with someone else because I was too qualified and might get bored. It was annoying since they knew my qualifications beforehand. They mentioned another senior writer position opening soon, but I never heard back about it. It all worked out though, because SAIC later split and laid off the manager I would have reported to.
- How do you manage conflicting deadlines, milestones, and projects?
Technical Writer
I got contacted by HR the day after I applied for the Technical Writer role. The interview was pretty chill and friendly. Usually, there are two or three interviewers, but because of a project, only one person could make it. They were really nice, explained the job and company well, and answered all my questions. It felt really conversational and I was comfortable the whole time. After it ended, I was told HR would call about the next steps. A few days later, they called and offered me the job.
- Can you introduce yourself and elaborate on your resume details?
Technical Writer
I found the job posting for a Technical Writer online through Glassdoor. At the time, I was working contract and was interested in working for SAIC. So I applied and submitted my resume. It took a few months before they reached out for an interview. I was contacted and given more documentation to fill out, which included a complete background check by DoD form. Then I was contacted by their nice HR department, which led to an on-site interview.
- Can you tell me about your experience working with the defense department?
