Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SAIC.
Program Manager
After talking with the recruiter, I had one phone interview with the Program Director. I got an offer within 3 days and accepted it. The whole process was super simple.
- Can you describe your strategy for managing direct reports?
Program Manager
The interview was conducted over the phone with a recruiter, followed by a phone call with the hiring manager. The hiring manager was reportedly very busy, so an in-person meeting, which would have been convenient given the company's proximity, was not possible. This felt like a bad sign. It seemed the hiring manager was focused on checking off a list of requirements rather than considering a candidate's broader potential. The conversations themselves were pleasant. The recruiter's follow-up was lacking; there was no notification, either written or verbal, that the position had been filled or withdrawn. Communication ceased, and the job posting simply disappeared from the list of openings.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Could you share some details about your background?
Program Manager
Phone screen checked basic qualifications. Then had a few one-on-one interviews in the morning. Talked with HR, a Business Development Manager, a VP, and an SVP. The interviews focused on my skills, experience, and qualifications. Received an offer about a week to 10 days later.
- Tell me about a time you had to promote or grow a business.
