& Process

The interview was pretty straightforward, they just asked me about my background and duties relevant to driving. After a few days, I got the onboarding paperwork. They usually want at least a year of experience, otherwise, you might have to go through a 5-week driver training program, which is often out of state. There's also a dock to driver program, but getting into either of those depends on how badly they need drivers at that moment.

The interview process moved quite fast. The interviewer seemed a bit preoccupied, initially helping an agent with a login issue. He didn't introduce himself, and I had to confirm his role. He then asked about my previous job, where I worked for 5 years at a smaller company also handling LTL, and expressed my desire to continue my LTL career with a company offering better pay, like Saia. He inquired about my last two employments, and I confirmed my flexibility with shifts. He took notes while explaining company details. Towards the end, he mentioned having more interviews and that I should expect an email by Monday regarding an offer. I'm still waiting to hear back.

The interview process started off well, and I thought it was a good match for my career background. I invested a lot of time and effort on short notice into this interview process. I was clear from the very beginning of the interview process that I could not travel at the last minute or on a regular basis. The job description did not state that travel was frequently required. They didn't even call me directly to inform me of this after four hours of interviews; instead, they sent the message through the recruiter. I felt my time was wasted because they didn't provide any feedback from those four hours of interviews. The lack of planning regarding travel or what's truly needed is a huge red flag.

The hiring process was pretty quick. If they like your application, they'll email you to take a typing test, check your internet speed, and fill out a questionnaire. Your first interview is a phone call with a supervisor or team lead. If you pass that, they'll send an email for a second interview, which is a group session. The group interview had the manager, a supervisor, and two team leads. You have to take a timed test during this interview. They asked basic questions and then let you ask them questions. I think it's a bit much having that many managers in the group interview, it's intimidating. Also, it would be better if candidates took the test before the interview instead of during, it felt awkward.
