Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Safeway.
Buyer
It was a very formulaic interview with basic questions that expected a standardized response. They wanted to hear about your thought process, the reasoning behind your actions, the outcome, potential improvements, and lessons learned. It was a group panel interview, but the interviewers were friendly and it was a pretty easy interview overall.
- Tell me about a time you encountered a conflict. What steps did you take to resolve it?
- Describe your thought process for that situation.
- Explain your reasoning for the actions you took.
Supply Chain Intern
I first connected with a Supply Chain manager at a career fair at my university. Staying in touch with them led to an invitation to visit Safeway headquarters. This manager was very responsive to my emails and direct. They kept me updated on everything, including the progress of arranging executive meetings and the agenda for the visit. The interview process itself was a quick round robin. I spoke with four different people, each with a unique personality and asking various questions, some quite unusual. All the people I met and interviewed with gave great advice and were willing to listen and get to know me. I learned so much from them, which made me really want to intern there this summer.
- How did you prepare for this role?
- Can you define what supply chain is?
Supply Chain Analyst
Had an easy interview with two managers, lots of questions were institutional. The interview was long and thorough but the goal was to really identify great attributes through your experiences. The questions are open ended, and sometimes long but answering them shouldn't be a problem as long as you're honest and positive.
- Name a your greatest weakness
