First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Safeway.
Pharmacist
This was a video interview via Zoom. It was a quick and swift process for Safeway as they were in desperate need of pharmacists at the time. I applied through LinkedIn and was given my interview date a week after I applied, then the offer came the week after the interview. There was Nothing much but many basic generic questions were asked for the grad intern interview.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
- What makes you want to work for this company?
Pharmacist
I applied online and also dropped off my resume at the store. The staff gave me the hiring coordinator's number. I called her, and after a quick look at my application, she decided to give me a phone interview right then, which lasted about 45 minutes. We went over my resume and past work, and she asked basic questions like the biggest challenge in my last job, how I'd deal with coworker issues, and my best and worst qualities. There were also a couple of situational questions. After that, the Regional Pharmacy Manager wanted to meet me in person. We met at the pharmacy and then went to a cafe for lunch and the interview. It was very relaxed. He talked a lot, then I talked about my experiences and future goals. About 30 minutes later, we went back for a pharmacy tour and to meet the other staff. I got a call that evening, about 3 hours later, with a job offer. The salary was really good, much better than I was paid on the East Coast.
- Given a situation, use past experiences to give an example of how to handle conflict with a coworker.

I had a phone interview that was about 30 minutes, mostly behavioral questions, no clinical ones. Then I had an in person interview at a coffee shop where they asked more behavioral and situational questions. After that, they hired me via phone and email.
- What makes you want to join our company?
- Describe your approach to managing stress.
- Could you share three of your strengths and explain the reasons behind them?
