A recruiter reached out about a Talent Acquisition management role. After I agreed to chat with the hiring managers, we had a short call where one manager was late. The interview felt weird; they asked questions negatively and seemed distracted, possibly messaging each other. They didn't give details about the company or role, saying everything was a work in progress, and seemed uninterested, like they were interviewing me out of obligation. I received no follow-up after the interview.

The interview focused on explaining the training provided, the schedule, pay, and benefits. I was asked about my previous jobs and how I've dealt with various customer relations situations. I felt really comfortable and not stressed at all during the interview. Overall, it was a positive experience.

This whole thing took like 3 months, which was way too long, mostly 'cause the HR person was terrible at scheduling and kept being out of office, making me worry the hiring team thought I was the problem. It started with a call from HR, then a phone interview with the hiring manager, then a face-to-face with 6 people, then another meeting for a role play and presentation for 7 more people. After that, they called my references, which went really well. Three weeks later, they called to say my management style wasn't a good fit. They mentioned from the start they were having trouble filling the role because the last manager got fired and they really needed the right person. My background was fine, and I currently manage 12 people. It was the most drawn-out process ever for a mid-level manager job. Towards the end, they told me the other main candidate dropped out, and I wondered if it was because of the delays or the insane interview demands. I don't think Safelite even knew what they were really looking for.
