Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SABIC.
Scientist
So the interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with some basic questions like 'Tell me about yourself?' and 'Why should we hire you?'. Then they asked a few more in-depth questions about how I handle stress, my research methods, project management skills, and work-life balance.
- How do you handle stress?
- What are your research methods?
- How do you manage projects?
Senior Scientist
The interview process was very polite and punctual. I received clear indications, and the interactions were friendly. Everything concluded within the expected timeframe. There were extensive technical discussions with leadership, and the HR team was also actively and effectively involved.
- What about SABIC generates enthusiasm for you?
Scientist
It was a chill interview. I had about 6-8 one-on-one meetings, plus a presentation and a chat with HR. The hiring manager wasn't great at explaining the technical side. I was interviewing for a research role, but they weren't really pushing boundaries with their research, which you can see from their few patents in the last 5 years from this location. The questions weren't too hard, just know your resume and you'll be fine. They didn't end up offering me a job, but I wasn't super keen either, so it was a mutual thing.
- What are some typical questions you might be asked?
- Can you explain your past experiences and the reasons behind them?
- Are you familiar with the content of your resume?
