First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ryder System.
National Account Manager
The interview process itself wasn't too bad, but the follow-up was where things got tricky. Some of the HR recruiters had communication issues, and the people verifying my past employment and education details seemed to have a hard time with the verification.
- What personal qualities do you possess that make you a good fit for this position?
- How would you handle a situation where a coworker is engaged in unethical behavior?
- Could you share some of your professional goals and ambitions?
Sales Account Manager
It started with a phone screen, then a role play over the phone. After that, I had an in-person interview that took 2 to 3 hours. It included an assessment and then the interview itself. The interview was a 3 on 1 situation, and I felt grilled for the inside sales position, which didn't feel fair. I'm more of a one-on-one interviewee, so it was uncomfortable, even though I'm perfectly capable and more than qualified for the role. A positive was that I did enjoy the role play. They told me after the interview they hired someone internally, which is possible but not probable. I'm not really sure what I could have done differently.

Account Manager
After applying online, I took an hour-long online test covering skills and personality. Then, I had a phone interview where we discussed my basic skills and qualifications for the job. About two weeks later, I met with a Director of Rental for a one-on-one interview that involved going through about 25 pages of questions.
- How would your approach differ from previous account managers in this role?
