First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Russell Stover.
Brand Manager
Had an initial phone interview that was about a half hour long. They told me I would be moving to the next round and would hear back soon, but then I was rejected. It's fine not getting the position, that happens when you're looking for a job, but for the recruiter to say that and then not even get to the next round was really insulting.
- Can you describe a significant challenge you've encountered?
Sales Strategy Lead
The online application process was terrible and antiquated, maybe the worst ATS I've seen used in over 50 companies. I stopped trying to apply after the resume wouldn't pre-populate experience or anything else. There were also borderline questions and requests to contact employers on the initial application, which seems very premature.

- Who can you provide as references?
Trade Marketing Manager
Started with a recruiter phone screen. Then I had face-to-face interviews at their HQ in Kansas City with some key people, which took about half a day, and we even had lunch together. They also set up a city tour for me. The interviews were a mix of skill questions and some behavioral ones, and it was pretty relaxed. They were on time with everything, and the arrangements were good, though there was a small issue with getting reimbursed for expenses. After the two-week deadline, I followed up and was told they went with other candidates. I got good feedback on why.
- How many light bulbs are there in Australia?
Director
The interview process was disorganized and strange. I interviewed with multiple people, including HR, and then heard nothing back. There wasn't a job description, just a basic overview of the role. If candidates go through multiple interviews, they deserve more than a generic rejection. I'd heard negative things about the company culture, and my interview experience confirmed it. Treat candidates with the respect you'd expect, as their time is valuable. My advice is to ask about the culture and try to talk to people outside the immediate hiring team.
- Can you share some information about yourself and your previous work history?
