The recruiter was super responsive and kept me updated. First up was a recruiter call, which was chill and conversational. Then, I had a hiring manager screen. Round three involved a coding interview (people mentioned the game of life problem) and a system design question. For the final round, it was another coding interview (not the same leetcode style as the first one), plus a technical deep dive where we spent 30 minutes going over my background and experience. I got to set up my own coding environment/IDE for both coding and system design, which I liked because I could use my preferred setup instead of something like CoderPad. The whole thing moved fast and smoothly. Everyone I talked to was really nice.

I found out about this role through a connection who saw a hiring post on LinkedIn. They put me in touch with a recruiter at Rula. I had a 30-minute chat with the recruiter, which was nice. We discussed my background and what I'm seeking in a job. After that, I had a 45-minute conversation with an engineering manager. It was pretty casual but felt like they were unprepared and just reading questions, which I wasn't a fan of. They passed me to the next stage, which had two parts: a 50-minute coding interview for Conway's Game of Life and a 50-minute architecture discussion. I thought both were a bit too advanced for a level 1/2 engineer role. I struggled with the coding part but felt I did okay on the architecture. I didn't end up getting the offer.

After 5 interviews spanning almost a month, I got an email about the company's decision not to move forward from someone signed as "Talent." I had no prior contact with this person, and the email was from a no-reply address with no contact info for questions. I looked up previous emails for contact details and emailed them to ask about the decision. After waiting over 24 hours with no response, I finally got an email after 29 hours asking for a good time to call. I replied, but never heard back or got a call. I called HR twice, left 2 voicemails, but they never called me back. It's disappointing how this process was handled. Clear and timely communication, especially for rejections, is important. The lack of communication here was unprofessional and disrespectful.
