Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rue Gilt Groupe.
Assistant Producer
The interview felt like sorority recruitment; I met three women who asked the same questions without much engagement or interest. This raised concerns about the company's internal culture and if it aligns with what I'm seeking.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Assistant Producer
The interview process was straightforward. It began with a recruiter call, followed by three consecutive interviews with the team. The process was scheduled quickly, and feedback was provided within a few days. The HR team was helpful and easy to communicate with throughout the process.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What interests you about RGG?
- Did you prepare for these interviews?
Assistant Producer
I got contacted about a month after applying and they said I could be a good fit. I had a phone screening and then got invited for an in person interview. I met with 5 people for 30 minutes each. It was a relaxed and fun interview. I felt good about it and got an offer soon after. I would have taken the job but the salary offered was 33% less than I was making. I tried to negotiate but they wouldn't budge. Usually you get a pay increase when changing companies. I couldn't accept a 33% pay cut. My salary request wasn't unreasonable either, I was willing to make a lateral move. They wanted 3-5 years of experience but were offering an entry level salary. It felt like they didn't want experience, just cheap labor. It made me feel like I had no potential. The "competitive salary" on their website is misleading. Hopefully the Gilt merge goes well and they can pay more.
