First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at RSM.
Tax Analyst
I had 2 virtual interviews and an offer. It was for a Tax Analyst position. In the first one, HR told me about the role and asked about my education and experience. Then, they sent me an online test in Word about taxes. I didn't do great, but they called me for another interview with the bosses. They told me about the team, and I appreciate that the boss was honest because she told me that we have to do a lot of overtime, but it's not paid, and sometimes we work on Saturdays. Finally, they offered me the position, with a gross salary lower than I expected. I didn't accept.

Tax Manager
For the Tax Manager role at RSM, the process usually kicks off with a preliminary phone chat to see if you're a good fit and if you're interested. After that, you'll likely have a couple of interviews with higher-ups in the tax department where they'll really dig into your technical skills, tax law know-how, and how you solve problems. They might also give you a case study or a practical test to check out your skills. Sometimes, there's a final chat to make sure you'd vibe well with RSM's culture. All through this, they're looking at how well you communicate, manage clients, and if you've got leadership potential.
- What are the main things to think about for international tax issues?
- Tell me about a time you were stressed but had to get something done by a deadline.
Tax Intern
It was pretty straightforward. I had two 30-minute interviews back to back. The first one, they asked me two questions about why I was interested in accounting and tax, and then I had the rest of the time to ask them questions. The second interview involved going over my resume and a few more questions, but it felt more like a chat than a formal interview. The interviewers were really nice, and I got an offer about a week later.
- Why did you choose Tax over Audit?
