First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at RSA Security.
Senior Software Engineer
It was a pretty intense coding and architecture interview process with a big intro to the workflow. The whole thing took about four hours. There were several people involved, and each person had their own round of questions. It wasn't straightforward because they covered a lot of different topics, finishing up with a problem-solving question and then a big overview of the product architecture you'd be working on.
- Why did you choose to become a developer in this specific programming language, and what led you to this career path?
Software Engineer
I applied for this Software Engineer role and was quickly contacted by a recruiter. After a quick chat, I had a phone interview with the Hiring Manager. They seemed impressed, and I was invited for an onsite interview two weeks later. The onsite involved some basic Java questions. After the interview, the recruiter said the team liked me and they'd let me know about the final decision. I followed up for 4 weeks and eventually got a rejection, which I had to prompt them to give me. It took them a long time to tell me their decision, and they even reposted the job after rejecting me.
- Tell me about your experience with Java.
- What are your thoughts on Design Patterns?
- Can you solve the FizzBuzz problem?
Software Engineer
Recruiter gave me a call and set up a phone screen with the hiring manager. It was nice chatting with the hiring manager and finding out more about the role. Then I went in for an onsite interview with the team I would be joining. There were 2 technical interviews, 1 technical + behavioral, and 1 managerial.
- Can you discuss multi threading and exception handling in Java?
- I have a print out of some production code, can you explain what you understand from it?
- What are your thoughts on Software Architecture?
