Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Royal Solutions.
Marketing Assistant
I was interviewing with a company that shares its office space with three other marketing consulting firms. We all shared the same receptionist, and initially, I was mistakenly directed to interview with the wrong person. The second interview round was quite unusual. I was taken outside the office to the 69th street station, where I was interviewed and simultaneously observed my interviewer conducting what seemed like sales or 'table marketing.' Additionally, be aware that candidates are expected to cover their own transportation costs and lunch expenses.
- What qualities define a good leader?
- What characteristics make a good teammate?
Marketing
So, this job is pretty much direct marketing, face-to-face stuff. Started off with me being late for my first round, like 30 minutes past my scheduled time. Then, the second round was wild – me, my mentor Kevin, and two other entry-level ladies, we were out in Philly trying to sign people up for free Android phones if they qualified, like for people on welfare. We got $8 for each sign-up, and the goal was 10-12 a day. I actually saw about 5 people sign up in 3 hours, so it seemed doable. After that, I had a phone interview, which was the third round, and then they gave me an offer. The whole system is set up in 4 levels, with the top level supposedly making six figures based on how their team does. It wasn't exactly door-to-door, but it felt kinda like it. It was pretty cool helping people out while getting paid though. I'm waiting on other offers before I decide, but I'd pass on this one if a non-performance based internship offer comes through.
- Can you list 15 skills that a leader has?
Marketing
I applied online and got a reply within 24 hours. Lina Ibrahim, the managing partner, was my interviewer and she was professional. Their office was awesome and very different from a typical corporate environment. I showed up at the given time and there were other candidates in the lobby. It seems like a group interview followed by a presentation.
- Could you tell me a little about yourself?
- What motivated your decision to switch careers?
