So after I sent in my CV and Cover Letter, they had me answer some Key Selection Criteria questions via email. Then, I got invited to an interview, which was a panel interview. The panel consisted of the two research group heads, their admin/HR/secretary coordinator, and a research partner who joined remotely from Adelaide.

I applied for a research fellow position with a very competitive CV. They hired 16 senior research fellows, research fellows and post-docs, and 13 of them were already at RMIT. Another 2 people came from other Melbourne universities, and one from the UK. Even the scholar from the UK has a collaborator from RMIT. I'm just unhappy with wasting my time on three stages of recruitment.

it was a 5 people panel interview for a cell biology research assistant role, which was a bit confusing. they asked basic genetics and heredity questions and about my PhD interest. there were two interviews: a telephonic one which was general, and then a group interview that was specific to the position. don't get confused by the number of people, just focus on the questions asked.
