Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Royal Caribbean Group.
Senior Analyst
The interview process was great. They asked about my experience, specifically in the travel industry, and I did a technical assessment. Knowledge about cruises wasn't essential but it was a plus. I interviewed with a panel of six people and the director of the team.
- Can you describe a situation where your idea was challenged or rejected, and explain how you managed it?
Analyst
I applied online for an Analyst role in the Business Development team. A manager emailed me to set up a video call, and mentioned a financial modeling exercise would be next. The interview process was terrible. The call was supposed to be with two managers, but only one showed up. After the interview, I was told they'd update me on next steps, but I didn't hear back for over a week. Seven working days after the interview, I emailed both managers thanking them, but got no response. Two days later, I got an automated email saying I wasn't selected. I then reached out to the manager I hadn't heard from, asking why, and he apologized saying the department was busy. He didn't answer my question but said they were moving forward with others. I asked why, specifically since we'd never spoken, but never heard back. I think the manager not showing up to the initial call was a red flag. I'd tell others to be careful interviewing with this team; they seem unprofessional and always claim to be busy when they're just picking and choosing who to respond to, especially considering they sell vacations, not cure cancer.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your background?
- How would you approach investing in a business opportunity in Jamaica?
- Describe how you would assess the business and profitability of a Caribbean beach bar we plan to open.
Analyst
A recruiter reached out and set up an on-site interview. It consisted of one behavioral and one case interview. The behavioral was very conversational and relaxed. For the case study, they just want to hear your thought process.
- Why are you interested in working for Royal Caribbean?
