Applied once and was contacted for an online interview a month later. After that, I was contacted to complete an interview assignment and present it in person. Was offered the position within a 30-45 day timeframe.

I had an in-person interview at the office with some IT folks. They were nice and seemed positive, mostly talking about the role and the college, and making jokes. It was strange because they didn't ask much about me. They even mentioned I might have to move furniture for the president, and I'm not sure if that was a joke. After the interview, I got no info on next steps, which was a red flag. I tried contacting the hiring manager and admin but heard nothing. After about 3 months, I finally got a generic email saying they weren't moving forward. It felt dismissive, and I question if I was ever really considered.

I interviewed with the EE department on December 21st. The questions were sent beforehand. There was a panel of professors, including the chair. They asked a lot of questions, especially about project-based courses, which I have a lot of experience with. I think the interview went well because the chair was talking with someone while asking questions. They said they'd let me know about a second interview in February, but I never heard back. Then, in May 2022, they emailed to say the job was canceled and reposted, and that my application would automatically be considered. In June 2022, they sent another email saying the job was canceled again. Later, in July 2022, they reposted the job. I emailed the chair to ask about it, but got no response. This has been the longest runaround for a job, and it's really demoralizing, though it has made me stronger. It's a lot of bureaucracy and public money being used without clear direction.

After submitting my application, I went through a phone interview, followed by a flyout. During the flyout, I delivered presentations on my teaching and research, emphasizing their relevance to the department. I also met with most of the faculty. Although I felt the interview went well, I was later informed that someone else got the position. The reimbursement for my flight took months, and my thank you letters received no response from anyone in the department.
