Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ross Stores.
Assistant Buyer
The recruiter interview was in-person, and the recruiter seemed disengaged with a loud and noisy background. It was a quick interview with boring behavioral questions where my resume was reviewed. There were also some weird skills and Excel tests.
- Can you provide an overview of your resume?
Assistant Buyer
It was a two-stage interview process. First, I talked to the recruiter. Then, I had a second interview with three different people who work at the company, they were buyers or merchandising VPs. I got the offer the week after the second interview.
- Can you describe your experience using Microsoft Excel?
Buyer
It was a really long and tough interview process. They asked me a bunch of questions about who I knew, particularly if I had any contacts in the wholesale business. They also wanted to know my reasons for wanting to work in Manhattan. I was asked to provide examples of Excel functions I'm familiar with and describe situations where I'd use them.
- Are you connected with anyone in the wholesale business?
- Can you provide an example of an Excel function you know and describe a scenario where you would apply it?
- What are your reasons for wanting to be based in Manhattan?
