Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ross Stores.
Associate
After applying, I got a call about a week later. I had to keep calling the general manager to schedule the interview. After that, it was pretty straightforward. The general manager took me to his office and asked me typical interview questions.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to think quickly on your feet to solve a problem.
Stock Associate
The interview process was pretty easy. I just sat with the manager for about 10 minutes and answered some basic questions about how I'd handle tough situations with customers or team members. They made the hiring decision right then and there, and then there's a background check that takes about two weeks.
- Tell me about a situation in a group project where team members disagreed. How did you resolve it?
Associate Director
I went through a really long, drawn out, and amateurish phone screen. It was pretty obvious early on that they couldn't match my salary needs and I was probably overqualified, but the interviewer kept grilling me anyway. It was kind of amusing, and my bad for not ending the call sooner. Just a big waste of time for everyone involved.
