So, I started the process on Aug 12, 2024. It was a total of 4 interviews. First up was an initial screener call with Toni, who was really great. Then, I had a technical assessment with the Design manager, Tiffany, who was also awesome. After that, it was a portfolio review with the Senior Director of Design, Rob, and a Staff Designer, Avery. These folks were all super nice. The last interview was a whiteboard challenge with the PM, Virginia, and the Design manager, Tiffany. Honestly, everyone I met was super down-to-earth and genuinely good people. It really seems like they have a supportive culture there, the kind you'd want to be a part of. I didn't get an offer, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another chance down the road.

The interview process was very positive overall, communication was timely, smooth, and friendly. Toni, the primary point-of-contact/recruiter/HR, and the other members of Roofr were all very friendly and relatively timely in their responses which helped put me at ease throughout the process. The steps were: 1. Recruiter/HR interview to go over job expectations, confirming your working background, what you're looking for in a new role, etc. 2. Interview with the hiring manager, a conversational/introductory to the specific role and responsibilities, what the team is looking for, and if you are a good match, on paper, for the team. 3. Portfolio/Case Study Review with members of the design team, going over your design approach and strengths. 4. An open-ended whiteboarding challenge with the hiring manager and a cross-functional member of the team. I was given about 30 minutes to complete the challenge, which is short for these types of challenges. 5. Meeting with top stakeholders/ senior management - I did not get to this stage, as another late-stage candidate was given and accepted their offer.
- Why are you moving on from your last place of work?
- Is your approach to projects always like what you've shown?
- What do you look for in a job opportunity?

This was one of the best interview experiences I've had, even though I didn't get the offer. Being one of the final two candidates was a great chance to learn about Roofr and their Product team. The process had five parts: an initial call, a chat with the hiring manager, talks with the Senior Director of Design, a portfolio review with the Product team, and a final meeting with the VP of Product. It was a long process, but it felt like they really wanted me to meet everyone. They were looking for someone who's good at design and also works well with the team. I really want to thank the talent team for their support and encouragement throughout. On our first call, they clearly had read my resume and looked at my portfolio, making me feel welcome and heard. They responded quickly to my questions and helped me get ready for the next steps, which left a good impression. Even though I've interviewed with many companies, Roofr really stands out. I think anyone who gets to talk to the Roofr team will find them welcoming and supportive. As you move through the interview stages, you'll want to work there even more.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Roofr?
- What motivated your application to Roofr?
- Have you worked with cross-functional teams before?
