First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Guest Service Representative
The top dog and her sidekick asked a bunch of questions, then asked if I had any. They said they'd be in touch and to send any additional questions, which they didn't bother to answer. Then, they weren't in touch. Almost a week later, they sent a lame non-reply email from no one in particular stating they were not moving forward with my application. I think I dodged a bullet.
- If you were on a shift and had to act as the manager for that shift, would that be okay with you?
Cashier
The interview experience was alright, though I didn't end up getting the job. The interviewer was pleasant, and the location is kept tidy. I'd suggest aiming to arrive a bit earlier than scheduled because this particular branch tends to be very busy. It took me about 30 minutes to get there by bus, and I managed to show up just a few minutes before my interview was set to begin. In hindsight, that might not have presented the best impression.
- Are you available to work a full 40-hour week?
Director of Operations
I had an initial screening call and they said they'd get back to me within a week about next steps. I never heard anything, even after following up twice. I just gave up because it was clear I wasn't moving forward. My advice is, if you're not going to communicate with candidates you've decided against, then don't tell them you will.
- Can you discuss your project experience?
- What is your experience with budgets in a non-profit setting?
Communications Manager
A recruiter from Ronald McDonald House contacted me on LinkedIn and gave me a link to apply. After I confirmed my interest, I applied. A day later, I got an automated rejection. I sent it to the recruiter asking about the conflicting messages. She said it was an ATS error and put me back in the system. We then had an initial phone screen, and I was later emailed that I was moving on. The second round was set for the same week. On the interview day, I checked in with Meredith, who was now in charge, but she said she was 'unaware that an interview was scheduled' and 'would check with the team and get back to me by tomorrow'. Two and a half months and five follow-ups later, still no second interview or response.
- What are your standard Communications Manager questions for an initial screening?
