First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ROLLER.
Software Engineer
First, I had a chat with a recruiter about standard stuff, which was fine. Then, it got weird. The recruiter asked a bunch of tech questions that the engineering team gave them, and they wrote it all down (or maybe recorded it) to tell the engineers later. These questions were pretty specific but also high-level, like asking about interfaces versus abstract classes. It was tough because I was explaining to someone who didn't really get the tech stuff, and you lose a lot in conversation when you can't go back and forth easily. Questions like that really threw me off.
- Can you explain the distinction between an interface and an abstract class?
Software Engineer
I applied online and then about two weeks later, I had a first-round screening over Teams. The HR person asked general and technical questions. They were upfront that they weren't technical and would just pass my answers to the tech team. I wasn't super ready since it was my first interview after restarting my job search, so I was a bit surprised. But it was still a good experience overall.
- Can you explain what attributes are in C#?
- What is the purpose of using statements in C#?
- Could you describe the difference between an interface and an abstract class?
Senior Software Engineer
Had a call with the Recruitment Manager, who was super nice and gave me the lowdown on the company, its vibe, and how the interviews work. They then asked about my general background and some tech stuff relevant to the role. Towards the end, I got to ask my own questions and they walked me through the rest of the process. A couple days later, they let me know I didn't get the job. The feedback was helpful, and I appreciated how professional they were. Seems like a cool place to work with a great culture!
- Can you tell me about your recent experience with C# attributes?
- What are your thoughts on Reflection?
- How do you handle Optimistic concurrency?
